Moore Accuser’s Lawyer Using Dirty Trick to Keep Yearbook From Being Examined – TODAY NEWS

Republican Alabama US

Senate candidate Judge Roy Moore has been attacked viciously in recent weeks in light of a report claiming he sexually assaulted teenage girls decades ago On Wednesday, Moore’s attorney held a news conference to demand that a handwriting expert be allowed to analyze the yearbook that accuser Beverly Young Nelson brought forward after she accused Moore of sexually assaulting her when she was 16 years old Nelson held a news conference on Monday with her attorney, Gloria Allred, who said Nelson would testify under oath about the allegations she made against Moore During Allred and Nelson’s news conference, they brought forward a yearbook that reportedly had Moore’s signature in it, under an inscription complimenting Young’s looks In response to Moore’s legal team asking for the yearbook to be analyzed by a third-party handwriting expert, Allred is pulling another trick to keep the yearbook under wraps

According to The Daily Caller, Allred sent an email Wednesday to reporters stating she had emailed a letter to several committees in the US Senate in which she called for a hearing within the next two weeks to investigate Nelson’s claims against Moore “Yesterday, I emailed a letter to the Chairs of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee and the United States Senate Select Committee on Ethics in which I formally requested that those committees conduct a hearing within the next two weeks regarding the accusations made by the five women who alleged that they were victims of Roy Moore when they were teenagers,” Allred wrote in the email Allred addressed Moore’s calls for the yearbook to be examined, where she said Nelson would agree to hand over the yearbook if Moore agreed to testify before a congressional committee

“In the event that either or both Committees agree to conduct our requested hearing,” Allred said “Then we would agree to have the original yearbook examined by an independent expert or experts who would obtain exemplars of Mr Moore’s handwriting during the period in question and compare that handwriting to that contained in the yearbook” But it’s obviously a trick Allred knows the chances of Senate committee hearings being called “within the next two weeks” are virtually zero

So her offer to allow the yearbook to undergo forensic examination is utterly empty But it does enable her to prevent such an examination, while still maintaining a public willingness to allow it Last week, a report in The Washington Post accused Moore of inappropriate conduct from nearly 40 years ago One of the major allegations in the report said that Moore engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior with a 14-year-old girl in 1979, when he was 32 Moore has vehemently denied the allegations in The Post’s report and maintained that he believes the report was a “political hit job

” And Allread’s condition backs up his case Again, assuming Allred is aware that it would be highly unlikely for this to go before a congressional committee before the Dec 12 special election, it would be reasonable to question why she won’t release the yearbook now to clear the record If Moore claims that the yearbook has been tampered with and Allred is refusing to allow experts to analyze the handwriting, it raises the question about whether Allred is being truthful with her accusations against Moore And considering she’s using a trick like this to prevent the yearbook from being examined, it suggests the answer to that question, too
