Symptoms of Mesothelioma | Weitz & Luxenberg

What are the symptoms of malignant mesothelioma? Generally the first symptoms are shortness of breath or pain in the chest or the back and when someone presents their doctor with the symptoms the doctor will generally do an x-ray and when the patient is shown that X-ray one-side of the chest to the other will appear completely white often, fluid builds up in the chest cavity as a result of this tumor and it makes it very difficult to breathe In fact it compresses the lung on one side or the other and a procedure that a doctor will perform will be a pleurocentesis which is simply a draining of the fluid that's being built up because of this tumor

And it's not uncommon for a liter or two liters even three liters of fluid from being drained as a result of this tumor Also, weight loss can accompany this disease Great pain over a period of time There are a large number of nerve endings in the chest cavity surrounding the pleura when this cancer occurs They cause a great deal of discomfort for a patient So, these are generally the first symptoms of malignant mesothelioma
